XCO U23 finals
Les Gets still buzzing after the great success of Saturday – La Marseillaise still ringing in everyone’s ears – what a celebration it was.
Sunday sees the turn of the Cross-Country track to take the limelight – the finals of both the U23 & elite categories taking place today.
The Juniors up first, a German rider taking first – Ronja EIBL, followed closely by Evie RICHARDS of Great Britain in 2nd and in 3rd place – Laura STIGGER from Austria. French rider Loana LECOMTE came in 8th Place.
The Men under 23 was won by Vlad DACALU from Romania, 2nd place was taken by Maximilian BRANDL from Germany and in 3rd place – Sean FINCHAM from Canada. It was a close race with less than a minute seperating the top 5.
XCO elite finals
In the Elite category – current World Champion and favourite to win Kate COURTNEY from USA took the top spot, closely followed by Jolanda NEFF from Switzerland in 2nd. Elisabeth BRANDAU from Germany took 3rd. In 4th position one of the youngest riders in the category – Sina FREI from Switzerland. French rider Pauline FERRAND PREVOT took 5th position.
The Men Elite were last on the track – marking the last race of the weekend – the race was fast paced and was taken in the end by the current World Champion Nino SCHURTER of Switzerland. In 2 place Italian rider – Gerhard KERSCHBAUMER, 3rd place was taken by Henrique AVANCINI. French rider Stephane TEMPIER took 4th place.
A great final day to the World Cup in Les Gets which has been an overwhelming success.
